Get Involved

There are multiple ways you can get involved to help us do the good work that we do each day.

Ways to Donate

St. Leonard’s Place Peel would like to thank the TD Bank Group for the funding received under the TD Ready Commitment grant.

Through this grant, we were able to hire a Care Navigator that has worked with our clients to successfully transition them out of SLPP and into permanent housing!

St. Leonard’s Place Peel is an independent, not for profit charitable organization. Each year, we help men through our supportive housing and services that aim to rebuild their lives and help them reintegrate into society.

Will you help us bring much-needed support to men and their families as they struggle with issues such as poverty, criminalization, addiction, mental illness?

Your support is not only greatly appreciated, it is essential to the continuation of our work.  Your support can help give someone a fresh start and contribute to a safer and healthier society for everyone.

Thank you for your generosity and for your interest in our work.

Cash is the simplest and easiest gift you can make. All donations over $10 are issued a tax receipt for the full amount of the gift. We welcome both one-time and monthly gifts of any size.

Planned Giving

Gifts of Publicly Traded Securities

By donating your publicly traded company shares, stock or other securities listed on a major exchange, either during your life or in your will, you can take advantage of additional tax benefits. You will receive a tax receipt for the current fair market value of the securities.

Legacy Gift by Will

Through designating St. Leonard’s Place Peel as a beneficiary in your will, you can create a lasting legacy without diminishing your assets today. Your estate will be issued a donation receipt for the value of your gift and this may help to reduce possible estate taxes.

Gifts of Life Insurance

A life insurance gift may be a policy you already own that no longer serves its original purpose, a new policy you buy specifically to benefit the Society or an existing policy in which you name the Society as a contingent beneficiary.

Trusts and Gifts of Residual Interest

A Charitable Remainder Trust is a means for a donor to establish a trust and making an irrevocable gift to SLPP. The gift will come into effect upon your death but you will immediately receive a tax receipt for the value of your gift and continue to receive the income earned by the capital during your lifetime.

Gift of Property

Donors who own real estate can donate the residual interest in their property to St. Leonard’s Place Peel while retaining the right to live there for the remainder of their life. This allows the donor to continue to enjoy all the benefits of the property during their lives and entitles the donor to an immediate tax benefit based on the actuarial value of the residual interest. Generally, the property must be free from mortgages in order to donate the residual interest.

RRSPs & RRIFs

You may designate SLPP as a beneficiary of your RRSPs and RRIFs. This means that all or a portion of these assets would be directly transferred to SLPP upon your death without passing through your estate. This can reduce or eliminate probate fees arising from your estate. The direct designation of St. Leonard’s Place Peel as the beneficiary of your RRSP or RRIF will also create a tax credit on your death that can offset taxes owing at that time.

If you are considering leaving a planned gift to St. Leonard’s Place Peel we recommend you consult an accountant or financial planner when weighing your options.
